Presa 97

The house at Paseo de la Presa #97, was ordered to be built by Don Fernando Rubio Rocha in 1909, by the engineer Luis de Silva, who designed it in an eclectic style, including mainly Art Nouveau, a style characterized by organic forms, floral decorative details, multicolored stained glass windows and whiplash lines. "In Mexico, Art Nouveau, as an elegant Porfirian pretension, was developed as part of the repertoire of architectural and artistic styles imported by the Porfirian society, which sought, through these, to be at the forefront and height of European countries; in a Mexico that was opening to foreign capital, seeking the industrialization and modernization of the main cities of the country". Being this house an exceptional example in the city of Guanajuato.

The Villaseñor Family purchased the house shortly after it was built and lived in it for almost 100 years. In 2021 it was acquired by Colectiva de la Presa, a social investment company dedicated to preserving this historic building, opening in 2023 the "Presa 97" Cultural Center.

Our mission is to promote networking among the community of local artists, entrepreneurs and residents by offering quality gastronomic, design, art and wellness services that are aligned with the historical and architectural personality of the house.

We are guided by the values of Respect, Community and Creativity.

Welcome!
