La pintura encáustica me ha consumido desde 2007. El proceso me permite transferir realmente lo que está en mi cabeza y en mi corazón a la pieza acabada. En algunos casos combino otros materiales como fotografías y materiales naturales y otros materiales mixtos con el medio de la encáustica, pero es la cera la que otorga a la obra una textura, un grafismo asombroso, un color y una profundidad que son difíciles de producir de otro modo.
Antes de trabajar con la encáustica, había explorado otros medios e iniciativas artísticas. Diseñé y fabriqué joyas entre 1977 y 1988.
Durante varios años, a principios de los 80, trabajé en Peters Valley, una comunidad residencial de artesanos en el noroeste de Nueva Jersey, en puestos como asistente de galería, asistente del director y directora de programas.
De 1988 a 1997 fui propietaria de una galería de artesanía en Middleburg, Virginia. Hacia el final de ese proyecto aprendí y practiqué el arte del mosaico. También me gusta la fotografía, la técnica mixta y el collage.

Encaustic painting has consumed me since 2007. The process allows me to truly transfer what is in my head and heart, onto and into the finished piece. In some cases I combine other materials like photographs and natural and other mixed media materials with the encaustic medium, but it’s the wax that grants the work texture, amazing graphic, color, and a depth that is difficult to produce any other way.
Prior to working with encaustic, I had explored various other media and artistic endeavors. I designed and fabricated jewelry from 1977-1988.
For several years in the early 80’s I worked at Peters Valley, a residential crafts community in northwestern New Jersey, in capacities including gallery assistant, assistant to the director, and programs chair.
From 1988-1997 I owned a fine crafts gallery in Middleburg Virginia. Towards the end of that project I learned and practiced the art of mosaics. I also enjoy photography, mixed media, and collage.
